What Is Post-Tensioning?

Post-Tensioning is a method of prestressing concrete slabs by tensioning high-strength steel tendons after the concrete has gained sufficient strength, improving structural strength and load capacity.

Benefits of Post-Tensioning

  • More usable space: Beam-free layouts and thinner slabs can reduce floor-to-floor heights or allow more storeys within the same building height.
  • Effective load capacity: Helps control cracking and improve watertightness, making it suitable for parking structures and high-rise buildings.
  • Faster construction: Earlier formwork removal and loading can shorten construction time.

Precast Concrete

Precast Concrete consists of reinforced concrete components cast in a factory or controlled production area, then transported to the construction site for assembly and installation instead of being cast in place.

Benefits

  • Time savings: Immediate installation can make construction 30–50% faster.
  • Consistent quality: Factory production makes it easier to control component thickness and concrete compressive strength.
  • Less on-site labour: Fewer workers are needed on site, reducing dependence on scarce skilled labour.
